FAQs
What is Wanderwing?
Wanderwing gamifies curiosity and autonomy by rewarding kids when they put down their screens and explore their world.
Wanderwing flips the script by prompting kids to go outside to get that hit of dopamine.
How does Wandwerwing get kids off of screens?
Technology is here. Most kids in generation alpha, born after 2012, have a tablet by the age of 2 and half have a phone by the age of 8. Wanderwing gamifies screen balance. Kids earn wanderwings when they put down their screens and explore their yard, go on a trail, head to a playground, or plan for vacation. This is the screen that does not reward scrolling and screen time.
Why did you start Wanderwing?
Good question! As a mom of 2 girls, I’ve watched my daughters and their friends grow up on screens. I’ve watched some kids have tantrums when they have to put down a screen and others simply put it down and walk away. I’ve watched my daughters use screens as a tool to learn about their world, and I’ve watched them bed rot on a Saturday scrolling for longer than I would like. Watching all of this is what inspired me to build Wanderwing. My mission is to raise a generation of kids who are tech savvy but never tech dependent.
How did you build Wanderwing?
With a lot of help! I am not a coder. I am not an artist. I am not a youth development professional. I am an incredibly driven mom who cares deeply about her community. So, I called on friends, neighbors, relatives, non-profits, and my amazing husband to help me build Wanderwing. Check out the team, we are pretty awesome.
